What should I ask?

Pretty simple, ask whatever you want to know about. Try to keep it appropriate, but otherwise, just be yourself!

Q: So much studio time lately, when is your album due to come out? Does it have a title yet?
A: I've actually decided to release the album as a series of singles and then put out a collection when i'm done.

Q: Hi!! How much do you and kicks charge for a private show locally? How far in advance can we book you?
Thanks!!
-Erin (from the coffee shop with the kids and hula hoops)
A: hi erin! i know i've already answered this question but i might as well field it on the record.

the short answer is it varies from gig to gig depending on how long we're playing and how far we have to travel.

if you want to book a show, shoot me an email at booking@reesegalido.com and we'll go from there.

Q: Do you write poetry?
A: why yes as a matter of fact, most of my songs start off with a poem of some sort - mostly free verse until i come up with something i like.

from there - i just move lines around until a song structure emerges. doesn't always work as smoothly as i'd like but it's a start at least :)

Q: Who are your favorite artists and who would you say influences your music the most?
A: this question merits a very long list of artists that have influenced my writing and singing style but i'll try to confine myself to my top 5:

1. sarah vaughn - i've tried to tuck a little this lady's voice in my own singing
2. ella fitzgerald
3. bonnie raitt
4. suzanne vega
5. rose cousins / edie carey (yes i know i'm sneaking in a sixth but this is my list)

Q: Do you name your guitars?
A: well yes and no. i suppose i just give them titles more than proper names. my electric guitar is called "the tele", my current guitar i call "the hummingbird" although recently it's been dubbed "perrywinkle" by a 3rd party.

... i used to call the martin i played, well... "martin".

long story short - i am the opposite of creative when naming my instruments. don't judge.

Q: i like these pictures! where are you at the present time?
A: thank you! i hate posing for pictures but put a guitar in my hand and all of a sudden i'm not so awkward.

at present i am in good old san luis obispo on the cali central coast cookin' up music for a cello part on the new recording.

Q: How would you describe your style?
A: you know i've been writing and playing music for a long time and i still have trouble with this question. you'll find folk songs, latin influenced songs, blues cuts, reggae roots all wrapped into the love songs i write.

maybe that's it - my style? i write love songs.
